The jazzinotes score of the spiritual "Nobody Knows The Trouble I've Seen" is a note-for-note transcription of a video of the year 1962, here on YouTube. It is written for trumpet/vocal and piano. On the original recording some other instruments play at the very end, too, but only with a few notes. These notes are not included (with the exception of some notes of the double bass, that are integrated in the left hand of the piano). For the vocal and the trumpet there are also parts (for the trumpet in Bb an also in C).This spiritual seems to be the most touching lament of the slavery in
the US. The authors of the spiritual are not known. The first score was
written by the singer Harry Thaker Burleigh, a scholar of Dvořák.
There are a lot of other interpretations, e.g. of Mahalia Jackson,
Golden Gate Quartet, Jimmy Witherspoon or Johnny Cash. And many
musicians of Modern Jazz have interpreted it, e.g. Dizzie Gillespie,
Dave Brubeck, Alber Ayler, Charles Mingus, Archie Shepp, Charlie Haden
etc.
