Songfacts:

Clarence "Pinetop" Smith (1904 - 1928) composed 1928 "Pinetop's Boogie Woogie". He couldn't realize the chart success of his composition, because he was killed during a gunfight in a dance saloon. Many pianists like Joja Wendt, Silvan Zingg and Dr. John have interpreted this tune. The big band version of Tommy Dorsey 1938 entered the charts, too.
